PRESIDENT AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
The position of President and Chief Executive Officer of The Mighty Eighth
Air Force Museum in Savannah, Georgia, is responsible for the leadership and
operation of a large 90,000 square-foot complex, set on 12 acres, comprised
of a museum, library, archives, art gallery, meeting rooms, gift shop,
cafeteria, and memorial gardens. The total annual budget of this operation
is $1.6 million. The position directly or indirectly supervises a staff of
30 personnel and 90 volunteers that operate the museum complex seven days a
week. The President/CEO is responsible to the Executive Committee of a
non-profit organization and interacts with local and state government
officials at the highest levels. The President/CEO must possess skills and
expertise in financial matters, marketing, fund raising, personnel
management, business operations, exhibit development, long-range planning,
written communications, as well as public speaking.
Only serious applications with a minimum of 15 years leadership and
management experience need apply. Undergraduate and advanced degrees in
appropriate disciplines are considered important to the person selected for
the position. Prior military service in the armed forces of the United
States will also be a favorable consideration. A grasp of military aviation
history, beginning with World War II, is considered essential for the
candidate who might fill this position. Salary will be commensurate with
level of experience and will be finalized following a formal interview with
