Some of you recently discussed conflict of interest statements and policies
related to collections. I would like samples of similar statements related
to board member affiliations with other organizations. We have board
members who are on the boards of, or work for, other institutions (not
necessarily museums), and actively persue grants and funding for those other
entities. Things get sticky when our museum discusses funding opportunities
for which we may end up competing against those organizations that our board
members work for or with. It is tricky to determine what is inappropriate
as we have no guidelines or policies governing this type of behavior. Can
anyone provide me with statements or policies you use?
