My husband and I stayed at the Monasterio de Piedra outside of Zaragoza
on our way from Barcelona to Madrid. It was truly a unique experience
and absolutely beautiful (not too pricy either). The monastery sits on
an ideal landscaped garden the monks built to resemble their
understanding of heavenly paradise.
Taken from a website: The most important tourist attraction in the area
[Zaragoza] is the Monastery of Piedra, where the Cistercian Order
composed a symphony of light and colour, playing with the waters of the
river. Both the abbey and its surrounding buildings go to form an image
of pure paradise.

Enjoy Espana!! :)

Subject: Barcelona and Northern Spain
So here I am, booking my trip to Northern Spain and Barcelona, looking
for information, when I thought whom better to ask for tips than my
museum list?
I have been to this area before, but am looking for interesting (and
cheap) places to stay, like cloisters/monasteries, and towns or cities
you would recommend. I am flying into Madrid, going to Burgos and
flying out of Barcelona in a three week time period. Other than those
three places, my schedule is basically free though I would also like
to go to Bilbao.
Cheers!
