ABOUT:
This three-day workshop series is designed for institutions with
material-based collections and provides an intensive training experience
with a programmatic approach. The series focuses on basic preservation
themes of planning and management, policies and procedures, and care of
collections.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
The workshop series is directed towards staff involved in collections care
stewardship, institutional development and policy making, and exhibition
development and installation. Students in degree-related programs are also
encouraged to attend.
WORKSHOPS:
Nine full-day workshops will be offered to allow participants to select the
training topics appropriate to their specific needs and experience levels.
Participants may select one workshop per day from the following:
Day 1 September 27:

*Handling & Housekeeping for Collections****
Day 2 September 28:
*Care of Collections- Paintings & Painted Surfaces****
*Collection Care Planning & Fundraising for Implementation****
*Making Material Choices for Storage & Exhibit Materials****
Day 3 September 29:
*Care of Collections- Paper-Based Materials****
*Practical Strategies & New Tools for Evaluating the Museum
Environment****
*Surveying & Assessing Collection Needs****
