A few weeks ago someone at our college discovered that an entirely
fictitious and slanderous article about Hartwick College had been
submitted to Wikipedia. This page had not been marked by the editors of
Wikipedia as a problem. Fortunately college officials quickly changed
the offending text. Unfortunately, although there are responsible
articles there, there are also ones that are erroneous and it is very
easy for someone to change the content of an article and it would be
very easy for the reader not to know the difference. I am hesitant to
use such a site when one could go to a vetted encyclopedia for much more
accurate information.
