The following is taken from the Save America's Treasures website
What are national treasures?
America's most significant cultural treasures illustrate, interpret, and
embody the great events, ideas, and individuals that contribute to our
nation's history and culture. Part of this legacy is the built environment
of buildings, sites, and districts, which to qualify for these awards must
be either a National Historic Landmark or listed on the National Register of
Historic Places for national significance or deemed eligible for such a
listing by the State Historic Preservation Officer. These treasures also
include the collections and materials that help us understand our history or
way of life. Project examples can be found at the National Park Service Web
site at http://www2.cr.nps.gov/treasures/index.htm and the President's
Committee
on the Arts and the Humanities Web site at http://www.pcah.gov/SAT2004.htm.

One thing we need to be careful of is misinforming individuals when seeking
funding. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE REGISTERED ON THE REGISTRY, NOR ELIGIBLE TO
SEEK FUNDING UNDER THE SAVE AMERICA'S TREASURES PROGRAM.

Greetings All,
If the property is listed on the National Registery it may qualify for a
Save America's Treasure grant. The program is administered through the
National Park Service. For consideration you will need to contact your
local member of congress to make the request.

Hello:
I'm about to leave the office for a week's vacation (whoo-hoo!) and I
wanted to post this quick query before I left.
Some women just came in to the museum and are about embark upon restoring
the old movie theater in our city of about 15,000. They were wondering if
there are any grants out there specifically for theater restoration. I
haven't heard of anything like that, but I thought I'd ask the experts.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Amanda Thompson Dyer
