Hello all!
I am currently interning for a children's discovery-type museum where
I have been putting together info, examples, and a pro/con sheets on two
separate projects. I am looking for feedback on where I could find
information, who I can talk to, or where I could look for real life
examples of similar situations.
PROJECT 1:
This museum is contemplating a move to a historic building. This,
again, is a children's interactive museum so the move would require more
than just moving furniture and objects. A lot of the exhibits are built to
fit the room and are part of the building itself. How could we move and
still manage to keep the integrity of the historic building? What other
factors should be taken into consideration for this move? The historic
building would require a lot of renovation but it would allow for free
rent and almost double the space. For this project I am putting together
pro's/con's on the move along with information and examples on historic
moves.
PROJECT 2:
Our museum is interested in bringing in a highly technological
exhibit. Information on costs in comparison to a normal exhibit would be
very helpful. Our museum does rent some traveling exhibits, but usually
tends to build actual exhibits. (They also hope to create in the future a
traveling exhibit that could be rented out...) I am putting together a
pro/con sheet, examples of high tech exhibits, and a cost information
sheet. Any info that could contribute would be very helpful!
Thanks!
-Caitlin Johnson
