The "x" in Xmas is actually the Greek letter Chi (X), which is the
first letter in the title Christos. There are other similar, albeit
less common, abbreviations, e.g. Xian for Christian (looks funny at
first, but if you have to type/write it a lot and are communicating w/
others who know the abbreviation, it is handy).
