The Lauren Rogers Museum of Art wishes to deaccession and donate
approximately 250 items collected ca. 1895-1930 by one well-traveled
collector. These items, while all in the category of "basketry," are
diverse. Items are from Asia, the Americas, Africa, Europe, the
Caribbean, Australia, and both East and West Indies. Bowls, trays,
mats, hats, purses, reticules, boxes and more are included in this
collection. We also have a mummy sandal we would love to send to an
Egyptian collection. If there's a purse museum out there, definitely
call me as we have rather a lot of woven purses.
Please contact me for a full list of what is currently available. We
have been donating small groups of objects to museum collections and
will continue to do so; you don't have to take all 250! We can provide
photos as needed. We ask only that the other museum arrange and pay for
packing and shipping. These may be of interest to museums interested in
design, costume, ethnographic material, folk art, textile art, and/or
decorative art.
Please note: this DOES NOT include any of our Native American material!
