Institute of Museum and Library Services Announces Reorganization
Building and realigning capacity to achieve President's Management
Agenda is Goal
Washington, DC -Dr. Anne-Imelda M. Radice, director of the federal
Institute of Museum and Library Services, announced a reorganization of
the agency's staff today. The reorganization will enable the Institute
to align management and program efforts to more effectively demonstrate
results and meet national needs.
"Lifelong learning is essential to success in a knowledge age and
lifelong learning is what libraries and museums are all about," noted
Dr. Radice. "The Institute of Museum and Library Services has a big
mission: to build the capacity of libraries and museums to create and
sustain a nation of learners. The agency has the imagination, the
leadership and the resources to bring together its constituents and
partners to realize this vision. We need an efficient, effective,
results oriented management structure at the Institute to support this
big idea."
The reorganization brings new staff to the agency and realigns the roles
of current staff including:
Schroeder Cherry, Counselor to the Director
<http://www.imls.gov/about/leadership.shtm#Cherry>. Dr. Cherry will
focus on special projects including advising the director on general
issues of concern to the African American museum community and the

grant programs in these areas should continue to be addressed to museum
program staff.
Kate Fernstrom, Chief of Staff
<http://www.imls.gov/about/leadership.shtm#Fernstrom>. Ms. Fernstrom

assure performance and accountability

will analyze and refine the Institute's internal systems for maximum
administrative efficiency and effectiveness.
