Friends of Henry and History,
As many of you know, my wife Robin and I, as well as a few others including
Jim Pfluger, Director of the National Ranching Heritage Center, were
consultants on the Texas Ranch House series on PBS (the latest of the PBS
"House" shows). We spent several days last summer in the harsh Southwest
Texas climate teaching the show participants about life on the 1867 Texas
frontier. We think they did pretty well. The cast and crew were all
wonderful to work with.
The show is scheduled to air May 1-4 nationwide. Check your local PBS
listings. Some of the preview trailers have been running fairly regularly.
The companion website is up and running. Find it at
http://www.pbs.org/wnet/ranchhouse/
Some of us wrote articles for the website giving background information on
Texas history, ranching, Indians, and of course buffalo soldiers. Click on
the page called "1867: Places, People and Events" to see our articles.
So check out the website and be sure to watch the show. You might see some
familiar faces. Actually, I appear in two episodes. :-)
Cheers,
H
