SUMMARY:
This position oversees daily and long-range operations of collection
development and implements collection care, maintenance, safety,
documentation and use, working collaboratively in a creative environment and
contributing to the development of museum exhibitions through
collection-related activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Maintains documentation of permanent/education collection
objects/specimens.
• Filters requests of acquisitions and deaccessions.
• Determines and performs methods and processes for preservation and
conservation of objects/specimens; executes long-term documentation, use,
care and improvement projects.
• Represents collection-related issues at an institutional level.
• Assists in the annual budget planning process and regularly monitors
expenditures.
• Responsible for the installation and handling of all objects in
temporary or permanent possession of the Museum; supervises packaging,
crating and casework to transport or display artifacts.
• Assists in writing, preparing and editing grant proposals for special
projects.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in library or museum science with one to three years of
experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
SALARY:
$32,000 - $35,000
