As always when using volunteers have a very clear job/task description, and
make sure that both sides (supervisor and volunteer) understand what is to
be done. Make sure that there is actually a staff person for the volunteer
to report to should they need help/guidance etc. Gear the tasks to work you
need done and not the volunteer.
We have volunteers working with staff and it works well because we have a
clear understanding as to what the volunteers do.
The volunteers are not there to replace staff but to assist and help us.
