We have an large, old safe made by the Alpine Safe Company, Cincinnati,
Ohio. The save has a tumble
lock large door, with an interior key lock going into the inside
chamber, with a smaller safe. We
cannot open that chamber lock.
The exterior is painted in green, with hand scrolling and has a picture
of a sailing ship. Total
weight of the safe is about 3,000-3,500 pounds, and it is on large
caster rollers.
I believe the safe was made in 1897 or close to that, since it was put
in the building larger safe
ca. 1912. In my research, I checked in Ohio and looks like the Alpine
Safe Company is no longer in business. Has anyone heard of this company
or safe? Thanks in advance.
