Palaeontologists from Universidade Luterana do Brasil (Ulbra) in Rio Grande
do Sul state have announced that they had found fragments of bones that they
claim to be of the oldest dinosaur ever tracked
** Sea monster search draws MSU scientist to land of polar bears
The Montana State University scientist hiked, rifle in hand, across an
Arctic island to map the remains of 28 sea reptiles that are 150 million
years old
** Ancient creature apparently could fly 125 million years ago
Scientists have discovered an extinct animal the size of a small squirrel
that lived in China at least 125 million years ago and soared among the
trees
** China investigating US sale of possible Chinese fossil
Chinese authorities are investigating the auction in Los Angeles of
fossilized dinosaur eggs said to be from China and might ask for them to be
returned, said a Foreign Ministry spokesman quoted Wednesday by a state news
agency
** Fossil sheds new light on species
Antarctica probably served as a migratory path for dinosaurs between South
America and India, and Case's career has been spent filling in the pieces of
ancient life in that region

The latest research has shown, however, that the dinosaur's formidable claw
was, in fact, a prehistoric climbing crampon, which could also have
represented a significant stage in the evolution of flight

earliest wildlife
Federal scientists have found some of Canada's earliest wildlife - fossils
in a Yukon mountain range twice as old as the dinosaurs that show some very
small ancestors of modern animals
** Rare dinosaur nest fetches $420,000 in LA auction
Auction house Bonhams & Butterfields had estimated the raptoid nest, which
contained exposed embryos of the predators, would go for between $180,000
and $220,000
** Chinese scientist asks U.S. auctioneers not to put dinosaur nest under
hammer
"It's certainly been smuggled out of China through illegal channels," said
Xing Lida, a dinosaur expert with the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology
and Paleoanthropology under the Chinese Academy of Sciences
