The Ohio Historical Society is accepting applications for the following
position:
Curator II (Project Manager)
This position will be responsible for the daily operations of the
three-year project for high school students and teachers in south and
eastern Ohio. The position will serve as a central point of contact for
participants, the Advisory Board, project partners and the funders.
Primary responsibilities include: organizing a weeklong summer workshop;
recruiting participants; coordinating workshop faculty and consultants;
monitoring and supporting student follow-up/extension activities;
coordinating the involvement of partner institutions; monitoring the
project budget; writing quarterly and annual progress and budget
reports; coordinating sustainability efforts; presenting project results
at professional conferences; and working with project evaluators.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate: excellent written and verbal
communication skills; attention to detail; impeccable organizations
skills; the ability to work with partner institutions and individuals;
experience with education standards (pedagogy, state academic standards,
etc.); ability to juggle multiple small projects at one time; comfort
speaking in front of and directing large crowds (80-100 people);
comfortable working with teenagers; willingness to travel (up to one
week once a year, and several overnights per year); and knowledge of
history research methods and an appreciation for local history.
