MUSEUM DIRECTOR
The Greater Southwest Historical Museum, a regional history museum, located
in Ardmore, Oklahoma, is seeking dynamic and energetic applicants for the
position of Museum Director. The successful candidate should have
experience in all aspects of museum operations to contribute to a growing
institution. In particular the applicant should have a strong appreciation
for local history, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be
adept at handling multiple projects and programs with a small staff.
Responsibilities include: financial management, staff supervision and
training, facility development and promotion, public relations, strategic
planning, and implementation of interpretive development plans. Minimum
requirements are a Master's degree in museum studies, or closely related
field, strong curatorial background, and three to five years experience as a
director of a history museum. Salary range is $35,000-$38,000, commensurate
with qualifications, and includes a four-bedroom house and paid utilities.
