GROUP DYNAMICS: FAMILY PORTRAITS AND SCENES OF EVERYDAY LIFE AT THE NEW-
YORK HISTORICAL SOCIETY EXHIBITION OPENS
A visual treasury of 18th and 19th century America on display
May 5, 2006 through September 17, 2006
The New-York Historical Society (N-YHS), New York City’s first museum,
presents Group Dynamics: Family Portraits and Scenes of Everyday Life at
the New-York Historical Society, an unprecedented exploration of group
portraiture drawn from the Society’s extensive collection of paintings,
photographs and sculpture. The exhibition features 90 works of art ranging
from masterpieces of colonial, federal, and Victorian- era painting to
painted portrait miniatures and souvenir tintypes. Group Dynamics opens on
May 5, and is on view through September 17, 2006 at the New-York Historical
Society, located at Central Park West and 77th Street.
