Gallery Coordinator -- NYC
Our client, a Japanese art dealer in New York City, is searching for an
administrative assistant/ art gallery coordinator. The position requires
a self-motivated, highly organized person with excellent computer
skills. As it is a small office with only three staff, they have to be
congenial, articulate, and good with potential clients. Prior experience
and skills are essential in the areas of general office management,
light bookkeeping, freelance employee management, and client
correspondence in addition to exhibition/ gallery duties. Excellent
computer skills are mandatory; knowledge of Macintosh, Excel,
Quickbooks, Photoshop, and Word preferred. A background in Asian art,
art history, or Japanese language is not required but would be an asset.
Job starts as soon as possible (no later than year-end) with a
commitment for a minimum of one year. This is a full time position
(Monday-Friday 10-6) with excellent pay (depending on level of
experience and skills they bring to the job) and full benefits. Within
the gallery (located in a private residence in Manhattan), the assistant
takes on a diverse role and range of responsibilities including
assisting with the preparation of materials for exhibitions (typically
in other locations in NYC), sales and client presentations, commercial
publications, publicity and media communications, research projects (if
has proper credentials), and supervises website and computer maintenance
and upgrades. Salary $40- 60K depending on experience and evidence of
