Dear Readers,
It has been a pleasure bringing you Global Museum these past ten years, from
the comfort on my study in New Zealand. I am relocating to Singapore over
the next few weeks and plan to be resettled by early October. This means
that the stories below will be the last offering until that date. My
apologies for those of you who enjoy our regular weekly offering - be
assured, we will return!

Very little seemed to destine this son of a Siberian tea merchant, born in
Moscow in 1866, to become a painter, let alone a leader of the German avant-

plans to develop Australia's first display-oriented collections centre, to
be situated on a 4.75-hectare site now covered by old factories next to

The former board chairman of the J. Paul Getty Trust has returned nearly
