Collections Intern
Gaston County Museum has a collections intern position available for
May-August 2005. Intern will work with Curator and Registrar to move part of
GCM's permanent collection to a new storage space. Intern will assist in
re-housing and organizing objects. Intern will complete an inventory of the
new space and produce a location guide. Additionally, the intern will have
the opportunity to assist with exhibits (prep, installation,
de-installation), collections accessioning and cataloging, and creating
computer records using PastPerfect.
Successful candidate will be detail oriented, organized, and able to work
independently. Must be able to work with and meet a strict deadline, lift up
to 30lbs, climb stairs and ladders. Preference given to candidates with
previous museum work or course experience and/or candidates wishing to
pursue a career in museums. $3,000 stipend for the summer and assistance
locating housing (if needed).
