We recently had to deal with recovered fabric and cotton fibers from a Civil War era cotton mill burned during the Battle of Atlanta. We sent the stuff to Katherine Singley at Conservation Anthropologica ([log in to unmask] or 404/373-0995) for cleaning and stabilization. Perhaps she can advise you about the care of your artifacts.
Good luck,

Recently, at one of our larger excavations, a portion of burned
woven fabric was recovered. I was wondering if anyone has had
experience with preserving and storing such an artifact, in the short
term and long term.
