The Billerica Historical Society is looking for an object that was once
part of a historic home in the community. Folklore has it that the home
was one of several homes attacked during King Williams War
1680-1695.

We are looking for a door of the former residence of Roger Toothaker
or William Rogers 17c. It has been written that this residence was
attacked with a hatchet by the native residents during King Williams
War. Several members of the Toothaker family lost their lives. Legend
has it that that this door was still intact with hatchet when it was
donated by a Dr Elizabeth McCarthy of Billerica to some unknown
repository. It was probably donated between 1960-1990. I'm not sure
that anyone today has actually seen this object.

I have looked at several Massachusetts repositories and have found
nothing. Has anyone within the Museum or Historical Societies come
across such an item in their collections?

The Billerica Historical Society would like to display this item
during their 350thcommunity celebration. This item would be part of a
cultural heritage display for theses festivities.

Any info please contact
