The J. Craig Venter Science Foundation, the leading not-for-profit
research institutes engaged in the advancement of the science of genomics
seeks an Archivist/Curator for our newly created museum. The incumbent
will catalogue and evaluate materials in the collection, develop
mechanisms that enable the public to access selected components of the
collection, and develop outreach programs which highlight its attributes –
particularly its relevance to the establishment of the field of Genomics
and its broader implications for science and society. Incumbent will
oversee the collection as a ‘living’ dynamic collection and develop a
clear mission for it within the JCVI Center. Requirements include a
sophisticated individual with professional demeanor, polished verbal and
written communications skills and style, ten or more years managing
historical collections, preferably with a focus on scientific achievement,
and interacting with ‘history makers’ and leaders and other high profile
individuals in those fields; a strong understanding of issues of science;
a general understanding of funding opportunities and social and political
