Good Greetings ~
I think that volunteers need to immersed in the activities of the
organization and must be included in the newsletter distribution. Gosh, why
not term this a benefit of volunteering. Volunteer news, names, and
activities should likewise be listed in your newsletter.
The disconnect that I see is having volunteers that are not members. It
seems to me that if they are interested enough to volunteer, then they
should be converted to members.

Subject: Non-member volunteers and newsletter
Dear List,
The organization I am associated with is discussing whether or not to
send free newsletters (usually reserved only for paying members) to
non-member volunteers. Some think this could be beneficial by making
volunteers feel a part of the organization. Others think it would
undermine the member benefits and that it would be difficult to
determine which volunteers qualified for the free newsletter: those who
work once a year or those who work a certain number of hours per year.
Membership rates are $25 at the Individual level and $40 at the Family
level. Do any of your sites offer free newsletters to non-member
volunteers? Any thoughts on this topic?
Thanks.
