This spring the Smithsonian Early Enrichment Center is proud to offer two
professional development seminars to be held at the Smithsonian Institution
in Washington, DC.
Museum Magic: A Museum-Based Approach to Teaching History, Math and
Literacy
This series of three half-day workshops on April 21and 22 will introduce
educators of young children (up to third grade) to SEEC's method of using
fine art, objects and children's literature along with multi-sensory
activities to teach. Each three hour session will focus on ways to plan
effective museum visits and classroom lessons in essential standards- based
content areas - History, Math and Literacy.
Register for one or all!
Math in the Museums - Friday afternoon;
Literacy and Art- Saturday morning;
Teaching History to Young Children Saturday afternoon.
Learning Through Objects: Museums and Young Children - May 3 and 4
This two day seminar brings together museum and educators and early
childhood educators for a dialogue on how museums can be more effective with
this growing audience. SEEC shares our experience of over fifteen years of
museum based learning with the very young through hands-on experiences with
objects, lectures, discussions and gallery experiences.

opportunities contact
