Museum Director
The H.H. Franklin Foundation is searching for a full-time director for
its non-profit Tucson, Arizona-based antique automobile museum.
Successful candidates will have a graduate degree in museum studies
and/or five years experience directing a museum of similar size, as well
as general knowledge of automobile history. The candidate should
demonstrate successful experience in all aspects of museum operations
including business operations, government regulations, fundraising,
public relations, archival and collections management, management of a
vibrant volunteer network, and growth of the collection through
selective acquisitions and donations.
The Franklin Foundation and Museum is devoted to the Franklin air-cooled
automobile made in Syracuse, NY from 1902 through 1934. We currently
have a 25 car collection of superb quality and the demonstrated support
of The H.H. Franklin Club through donations and volunteers. A $3 Million
fundraising campaign is underway to launch a move to upstate New York.
The new facility in Cazenovia, NY will be close to where the Franklin
was made and enjoys the regional support of an active antique car hobby
and strong community support. The new director must therefore be able to
lead the organization through the next phases of its development,
including the building project and subsequent move.
Salary will be commensurate with experience and will include a benefits
package. Screening of applications will begin on December 1st and
continue until the position is filled. A start date of June 1, 2005 is
anticipated.
Send a letter of application along with resume, three letters of
reference and supporting materials to:
