The Society for the History of Technology has extended the
nomination deadline for its 2006 Dibner Award to April 1.
For 20 years the Dibner Award has recognized excellence
in museum exhibits from around the world that interpret the
history of technology, industry, and engineering to the
general public.
Anyone, including the institution or individual responsible
for its creation, may nominate an exhibit for the Dibner
Award.
Any relevant exhibit open to the public for no more than 24
months on April 1, 2006 is eligible for this year's award.
(Sorry, virtual exhibits are not eligible.)
The Award includes presentation of the Dibner plaque and up
to $1000.00 to cover expenses for a member of the design
team to accept the award at the SHOT awards banquet at the
Society's Annual Meeting in Las Vegas, Oct. 12-15, 2006. In
addition, the Dibner Award citation will be published for
all to see in the journal _Technology and Culture_.
The Society especially encourages nominations from local and
regional historical societies.
