[PLEASE EXCUSE CROSS-POSTING]
Dear List members,
The fall meeting of the Public History Alliance of Missouri (PHAM) will
be held Wednesday, November 2, 2005, beginning at 3:00 p.m. We will
meet at the Boone County Historical Society in Columbia.
In addition to the business meeting, we will have a roundtable
discussion of activities at our various institutions. There will also
be tours of the Society.
More details on the program can be found at the PHAM website, along with
directions on reaching the BCHS: http://www.umsystem.edu/pham/index.htm
And for those of you who are wondering what PHAM is, I've appended some

WHAT IS PHAM?
PHAM is the Public History Alliance of Missouri, a group founded in 2003
to address the need for a state-wide organization for people working
with historical resources.
With 53 members, PHAM consists of archivists, curators, and other people
who regularly work with historical resources. The organization's goal
is:
"Promoting cooperation and collegiality among archivists, librarians,
curators, and other specialists in the field of historical documents,
artifacts, and other materials collection and preservation in the state
of Missouri, and to disseminate and exchange information related to
preservation, conservation, research, and archival theory and practice."
WHAT IS THE COST OF MEMBERSHIP?
The cost is the best deal in town - absolutely free! PHAM operates
chiefly online, with the listserv being the primary means of contact.
WHAT DO I GET AS A MEMBER?
Membership offers the opportunity to easily reach colleagues across the
state through the listserv.
You are also invited to attend meetings (generally two per year), which
members graciously offer to host. Our meetings are held in a variety of
institutions in the state and have included discussions of topics
ranging from grant-writing to how to deal with electronic records.
HOW DO I JOIN?
Send an email to me, Anne Baker (current PHAM president), and we'll add
you to the listserv. I can be reached at [log in to unmask]
You can also choose to be on the PHAM member page, if you wish. This is
separate from the listserv and is provided as a resource for researchers
and PHAM members. Please review the information at that site
(http://www.umsystem.edu/pham/members.htm) and let me know if you want
to be included.
