Position Summary:
The Librarian/Archivist provides professional direction and leadership for the library and archives special collections. Responsible for collections development, organization, and preservation; bibliographic and archival access, use policies, security, technical/reference services, etc. Duties and responsibilities include administration, circulation and computerization, written procedures and policy development, and reports. The incumbent works with school children, members of the community, researchers, and other interested individuals and groups.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Develops and administers library and archival special collections (in all format, i.e., paper, audiovisual, electronic) for the Cultural Center/Museum.
· Responsible for establishing, implementing and communicating goals, objectives, and actions in accordance with the Cultural Center/Museum's strategic planning directives.
· Responsible for library and archival special collections inventory, arrangement, documentation, cataloging, and computerization.
· Selects materials for library and archival special collections and ascertains, with other staff and advisors, their suitability for access and circulation.
· Oversees all activities and services; explains and assists users in locating and accessing information in the special collections.
· Develops user guides, printed and electronic, and as feasible prepares O'odham and Spanish versions.
· Coordinates with the Board and staff of the Cultural Center/Museum to maintain the security of the library and archival special collections in terms of intellectual property rights and access to traditional knowledge.
· Keeps abreast of new technologies and principles to ensure best practices for protecting, preserving, and accessing the special collections.
· Keeps abreast of professional literature, activities of professional organizations, and scholarly developments in area of specialization.
· Achieves financial objectives by understanding and complying with budget procedures and requirements.
· Contributes to team efforts and accomplishes related results as required.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Certifications and Abilities:
· Knowledge of applicable federal, state, county and local laws, regulations, and requirements.
· Knowledge of library, information services, archival, and records management procedures
· Knowledge of preservation and conservation procedures for special library and archival collections.
· Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing.
· Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds; ability to interact with different age groups.
· Ability to exercise independent judgment, to work independently and meet project schedules.
· Skill in analyzing problems, projecting consequences, identifying solutions, and implementing recommendations.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Library and/or Information Science, or specialized training as an Archivist, or equivalent combination of education and experience as an archivist or librarian. Three to five years working with special library or archival collections preferred. A Master's Degree, experience in administration, and training in Museum Studies, Native American Studies, Anthropology, or Archeology desirable. Valid Arizona Driver's License with no DUI's or major traffic offenses within the past three (3) years. Bilingual O'odham/English preferred.

Position Summary:
Assists the Librarian/Archivist in the care and use of the library and archival special collections. Participates in acquisition, processing, preservation, and promotion of the Cultural Center/Museum's collections and provides services to users.

· Performs support and processing functions; sorts and shelves archival materials, provides working copies of fragile materials; updates on-line records
· Participates in the selection and preparation of archival materials for scanning and digitization, provides indexing tools.
· Provides reference and research assistance to users: students, elders, researchers, and members of the Tohono O'odham Nation.
· Promotes use of collections through exhibits, articles, and outreach activities.
· Promotes preservation of traditional information through interviews, recordings, photographs, etc. with members of the Tohono O'odham Nation.
· Keeps abreast of professional literature, activities of professional organization, and scholarly developments in area of specialization.
· Contributes to team efforts and accomplishes related results as required.

Position Summary:
The Photographic Collections Specialist is responsible for the management, including organization, preservation, re-formatting, cataloging, access and retrieval of photographs and other visual media archived in the Tohono O'odham Nation's Cultural Center and Museum.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Responsible for ensuring preservation of photographic materials, including archival housing, routine housekeeping, and monitoring of physical and security conditions.
· Responsible for standard photo archives cataloging procedures, such as assigning accession and catalog numbers, labeling photo images and storage containers, and placing images in proper storage location.
· Participates in development of policy and terms governing acceptance, use, and reproduction of photographic collections.
· Ensures acquisition and maintenance of all available documentation of incoming collections. Notes restrictions on use or images that are culturally sensitive
· Prepares and enters metadata and assures accuracy and completeness of data in the identification and description of the photographs.
· Keeps abreast of new technologies that affect the image management system, i.e., cataloging, formatting, etc
· Participates in digitization of photos for digital access projects. Operates slide and flat bed scanners. Prepares master and derivative images. Prepares and enters metadata.
· Reviews requests for use of images relative to legal restrictions, cultural sensitivity and makes recommendation to Curator of Collections.
· Trains staff, students, and others in using indexes and catalog information to retrieve desired materials.
· Aids in selecting suitable images for user requests by researching or assisting in research of desired images; suggests alternatives when appropriate.
· Coordinates with conservators in evaluating conservation needs and treatments of photographic materials.
· Oversees duplication or other forms of reproduction of photographic collections for private, research, or commercial use, as defined by policy.
· Contributes to team efforts and accomplishes related results as required.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Certifications and Abilities:
· Knowledge of and working experience with all varieties of photographic imaging.
· Knowledge of and working experience with photographic collections and computerized retrieval systems.
· Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing.
· Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds; ability to interact with different age groups.
· Ability to exercise independent judgment, to work independently and meet project schedules.

Minimum Qualifications:
Degree in Photography or Fine Arts or related field and 1-2 years experience. Or equivalent education and experience in photography and archives. Familiarity with archives in a library, museum, historical society or similar setting is preferred, and a broad understanding of preservation theory and practice in an archive is also desirable. Valid Arizona Driver's License. (No DUI's or major traffic offenses within the past three (3) years.) Bilingual O'odham/English preferred.
