Associate Manager of Information Services
The Metropolitan Museum of Art, one of the world's finest museums, seeks an Associate Manager of Information Services. This position is responsible for managing and facilitating all information to the public on a day-to-day basis, either on-site or through telephone assistance. In addition, this position assumes a direct role in managing, recruiting, hiring, training, and scheduling of Information Desk staff and volunteers. Primary responsibilities and duties include: overseeing day-to-day operations for Visitor Services's Information Services Division including the Great Hall and Uris Center Information Desks and the Telephone Operators; managing job duties, disciplinary issues, and career development for employees at the information desks and the telephone operators; managing Information Services's attendance, demographic, and membership reporting responsibilities; managing Visitor Services's express admissions initiative with TicketWeb including the collection and reconciliation of tickets and will call activities; overseeing Visitor Services's Family Initiative responsibilities including hiring, training, and supervising Family Greeters, promoting Museum programs to visiting families, collecting weekly statistics and conducting surveys as requested by the Family Initiative Committee; managing Information Desks' responsibilities for hourly statistics and TicketWeb; managing the distribution of communication changes to staff, including all updates and changes to the Museum's policies, programs, events, etc.; managing all training initiatives for full-time and part-time staff and volunteers working within Information Services, and other related duties as required.
Successful candidates will have previous experience managing employees, handling disciplinary issues, and developing career paths for a dedicated team of professionals. Must be fluent in at least two foreign languages - French, Spanish, German, and Japanese. Must have excellent communication, interpersonal, and writing skills. Must have strong leadership skills and ability to motivate. Must have the ability to multitask competing priorities. Must be able to provide professional problem solving assistance. Familiarity with the Metropolitan Museum of Art's permanent collection, preferred. Bachelor's degree is required. Strong knowledge of art history, preferred. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
