The Rock County Historical Society has used volunteers as
museum educators in the Frances Willard Schoolhouse. The program is conducted for third graders in Fall and Spring with most attendance in May.
The educators portray 19th century teachers at the one room school originally constructed for Frances Willard, her sister, and other neighborhood children. Most are retired teachers, but a few are not.
The teachers spend two and a half hours demonstrating what 19th c. classroom expectations were, how school children of the time used their slates and lead pencils, reading, cyphering, memory work, and stitching sewing cards.
The children respond well and the volunteers love the opportunity to work with kids in a unique setting.

> Hello, all.

> I am interested in hearing about experiences using volunteers as museum

>
> Also, does anyone use volunteers for outreach programs?
