For the larger foam core mounted labels at our museum, I tend to mount them
to the wall with velcro. Sometimes the round coins, other times the long
strips. There is a also an industrial strip velcro that we get from Sams
Club that will really hold the large ones on tight. Most generally we have
to do a bit of spackeling to the walls after the velcro is removed, but not
all the time if enough extra time and care is taken.
For the smaller labels, we us Hold-Tu plastic adhesive made by Dixon
Ticonderoga company, Canada. This stuff is GREAT!! Much better than the
3M products I have tried. We purchase it at Sav-On. It is very
inexpensive, leaves little to no residue on the walls and a little goes a
long way. We had a different brand that we used to use but it was hard to
remove from the walls completely and over many uses and time its chemical
make-up began to break down and get grainy.
Our exhibit tech also makes some ingenious little wall mounts, sleves, etc.
out of wood that look really nice. If interested, contact me offline at

Good Luck! Hope this helped.
