Interpretation Coordinator
Historic St. Mary’s City, an accredited living history museum commemorating
Maryland’s first capital (1634-1695), www.stmaryscity.org, is seeking an
Interpretation Coordinator to research, develop, implement, and evaluate on-
site and outreach interpretive programs and exhibits for diverse audiences,
ages, and learning styles. Responsibilities include hiring, training, and
supervising paid full-time and seasonal staff, interns, and volunteers.
The position works closely with the museum’s education staff to provide
quality programming for school tour audiences. Candidates should be
motivated, organized, able to multi-task, and provide leadership in a
collaborative work environment.
Successful candidates must have:
• Three to five years of interpretive and supervisory experience at a
living history museum;
• In-depth knowledge of first- and third-person living history
interpretive techniques;
• A basic knowledge of domestic and agriculture programs;
• B.A. or M.A. in history, museum studies, or related field;
• Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and management
skills.
This is a full-time, salaried position with excellent state benefits
package.
