To everyone who responded to my message about the seashell collection
needing a home. I have accumulated the replies and am getting in
touch eith the donor to see if he has any strong preferences or
wishes about where the collection goes.
I would prefer to deal with the collection as a whole, and not "part
it out". We don't have extra funds at this time to pay for shipping,
so that may make a difference for some of you. Here is some
additional information which I hope answers the most asked questions.
questions.
Sample listing: #538b Clinocardium fucanum 1" multi-ribbed Dall.
Leucadia, California $.50 Shell origins listed range from as broad
as Indio-Pacific to Bellaire Causeway, FL. 1199 shells are numbered
and listed in the inventory. There are several hundred more that are
not specifically identified.
The bulk of the collection is in four cabinets with drawers. These
range in size from 38 x 26 x 9", 33 x 32 x 16" to two at 22 x 22 x
13". There are seven additional boxes ranging in size from 38 x 26 x
9 to 10 x 10 x 4". My best guess is 250# =/-. Everything would fit
in a van or pickup. It would probably be easiest to repack
everything in similar size boxes with good padding for shipping.
Anybody still strongly interested please let me know. I work Wed-Fri
only, so please be patient if you don't get an immediate reply.
Thanks for the interest
