I rather doubt the philosophers want to bother with ID either -- if it is going to be taught it belongs in a comparative religion or perhaps sociology class but not a science class, because ID is not science. This, however, will not satisfy the ID zealots because their desire is to fabricate a public impression that ID and Evolution are equally valid and competing scientific theories -- that the issues are just simply those of fairness, open-mindedness, and balance. This is the crux of the debate over the teaching of ID (as distinct from the validity or not of its claims) -- a debate which would disappear were it not for the insistence by ID's proponents that it be taught in science classes.
