Company servants from Finland and Africa? Wouldn't they be African and
Finnish? The Swedes acknowledged these ancestries. They didn't refer to them
as Swedes.

And the 'Dutch' were not just people from what is today the Netherlands and
Belgium. Company servants and settlers came from Finland and Africa and
everywhere in-between. I can dig out the references if folks need them,
but am at work right now, and references are at home....
It can be quite difficult to talk about 'nationality' in a period when
modern European states (such as the Netherlands) were coming into being.
Cheers,
Pat
