I don't know if this helps and is a long reply. :o)

Check out:
"The 21st District elected Republican Devin Nunes, a Tulare native who now resides in Alpaugh. At 29, Rep.-elect Nunes will be one of the youngest members of the 108th Congress freshman class. A third-generation dairy farmer, Nunes received his A.A. degree from the College of the Sequoias, and received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from California Polytechnic State University. He was appointed a state director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture by President George W. Bush. Nunes's seat was created as a result of reapportionment and redistricting following the 2000 Census. A bio of Rep.-elect Nunes is available at http://www.nunesforcongress.com (does not link!)
This one is also worth reading: http://resourcescommittee.house.gov/Press/releases/2005/0421nhpa.htm
also, http://archaeology.about.com/od/section106/a/nunesamend.htm
So, to answer your question * No, it seems to me he has no experience in museum studies, since
his degree seems to be in agriculture.
More information:
"Pombo is chair of the Natural Resources Committee and appointed Nunes
to be chair of the National Parks Subcommittee under the main
committee. The amendments are a product of Pombo, Radanovich and Nunes
and probably others who agree with them that environmental compliance
is too onerous and needs to be changed if not done away with
altogether.
For the FCC PA, you will have to ask the ACHP and NCSHPO.
-PLAN FOR 2005-
ACRA's 10th Anniversary Conference in Washington D.C.
Nov. 9-11, 2005
The waters on this issue become clear, and then get murky again... is
it Pombo or Numes who proposed the 106 amendments? And, regarding the
March 2005 FCC NPA, which includes similar language as the proposed
106 amnedments (ie: only sites that are currently lsited as eligible
are to be considered for adverse effect protection), why don't we get
some feedback from members of the Council of SHPOs and the Advisory
Council who agreed to the FCC NPA? These are presumably members of the
pro-preservation sector who have endorsed the FCC NPA which eliminates
all unrecorded archaeological sites from adverse effect protection on
FCC projects.
I hope this helps,

Hello-
As many of you may know, there are currently changes being proposed to Section
106 of the NHP. In my CRM class we were going over the proposed legislation &
one of the unanswerable questions we have is: who is David Nunes (R-CA) who has
proposed the amendment? We're especially interested in learning if he has any
professional background or experience in museum studies or historic preservation
and what his reasons are for wanting to amend this act.
Thanks-
Stephanie
*About to get my MA & looking for a job in the Boston area :)
