Curatorial Assistant
The Evanston Historical Society seeks a curatorial assistant for the 32 -
hour week position for the Evanston History Gallery.
The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational and writing skills,
in addition to superior research and computer skills and a passion for
museums and history.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assisting the curator and
the exhibit team with day to day curatorial tasks, maintaining exhibit
database and notebook, assisting with exhibit labels, assisting with
retrieval of artifacts, scanning of archival material, and assisting with
conducting research
Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree (MA preferred) in public history,
archival studies or museum studies or related degree, must possess
excellent verbal, written, organizational and interpersonal skills. Must be
computer literate and have knowledge of Word and computer database software
functions. Experience handling artifacts and with exhibit installation
desired.
