Subject: Art identification
I would like to ask for help with the identification of a picture for
which I am searching, for reference for a paper due for a museum studies/art
history class. I have searched the Internet for hours and have asked
everyone I know if they know the name of it, but no one seems to be familiar
with what I thought was a fairly familiar work of art. Does anyone on this
list, then, know the name of the black and white image of the Sphinx, with a
sleeping person on one of -- or between -- her paws. I think the Sphinx
was/is illuminated by moonlight and that the picture is an engraving or a
lithograph, or something similar. I believe it was executed in the
mid-to-late 1800's, or possibly in the early 1900's.
Thank you for the help!
Lynne
