Dear friends,
I seemed to have phrased my question too broadly, although amny responded
with helpful information. Let me try again:
1. If you work at a small to mid-size (possibly University) museum, have you
recently completed a visitor or audience/community survey? If so, would you
mind sending me a copy of the survey you used to the address below? We are
getting ready to undertake, with the help of graduate business students, a
survey of target groups in our community. We hope to learn why people do/do
not visit our museum, and evaluate our marketing strategies based on what we
learned. Since these students have little museum background, I hope to
gather information, especially sample questionnaires, so that we can better
guide them. Later in the year we will work on a visitor survey.
2. Having done a visitor or audience survey, are you pleased with the
results? Is there anything you would do differently next time around?
3. Re: using the library. Everyone is absolutely right about using existing
resources wisely. However, before sending my message I completed an initial
search which generated about 25 articles from 1992-3. Our library has 3 of
these, and all others must be ordered through inter-library loan. Several
calls to AAM produced much helpful info but they don't keep files of
questionnaires others have used.
Thanks again everyone - I am most grateful for your help and advice.
