Actually yes, photos were transmitted over phone wires by the 1920s. It's
essentially faxing, which while popular today, has been a technology that's
been around for a long time (the first fax design was patented in 1843 ...
In 1902 a fax machine was patented that used an optical scanner).
So yes, your wire photo more than likely DOES date to the 1920s!
