I indicate on my resume which positions have been paid, intern or not, and
which are volunteer. I have an employment category under which I include
paid internships and note they were paid. I have a volunteer, boards and
committees category under which all unpaid work goes.

I was curious how a prospective employer would know if an internship was
paid or unpaid. My current resume doesn't reflect this...or would an
interviewing employer simply ask?
