In "Olivia," Ian Falconer's first book, Olivia visits a museum (I can't
remember which one if it was a specific one) and sees a painting by Degas
which inspires her to want to be a ballerina. Another painting inspires her
to start painting at home... These books are aimed at children 3 to 8 or so.
And I just love these books!

Hello--
If the original requester is willing to send me a copy of the final
list
she makes of these suggestions, I will make a Web page that can be
consulted and updated in future by all.
