Position: Collections Assistant
Starting date: Anytime in June
Duration: 6 months
Stipend: $10,000

Reporting to and working closely with the Collections Manager, the
collections assistant will work on the ongoing automation project and
subsequent inventory of the Bennington Museum collection. Numbering
over 60,000 items, the museum collection includes such diverse items as
fine art, decorative art, archives, photographs, ephemera, historical
objects, and much more. Many of these objects are simply not recorded
and will require complete cataloging. The collections assistant will
also be working with a staff of dedicated volunteers and undergraduate
interns. The collections assistant should have a working knowledge of
modern cataloging practices, care and handling, and preventative
conservation. Computer proficiency is a must for this position.
Preference given to students currently enrolled in, or who have recently
completed, a graduate degree program.

Please send cover letter, resume, and three references to the address
below by April 15, 2004. More information on the Bennington Museum can
be found on our web site at www.benningtonmuseum.org. Please call or
email with any questions.
