I read that there is a type of 'water' that has the simliar properties to
that of H2O but doesn't wet the object it falls on!
I read it from a local newspaper a couple months back but failed to cut it
out...I am not sure if such 'water' sprinklers is already available in the
market. They did mention it'll be used in fire suppression system in water
sensitive industries.
If you are researching on the suppresssion systems or if anyone so happen
to have more information on this 'new water' I am interested to know more
as well.
We are a repository housing collections belonging to our National Museums.
We do have the inergen gas system installed in certain stores housing water
sensitive collections such as paper based and furniture artefacts. Water
sprinklers are also installed as a 2nd layer of protection if the fire
doesn't go off when temperature reaches about 60 degrees C. We had
installed water sprinkler system bec it is a requirement set by the
authority that all buildings should be installed with the water sprinklers.
if given a choice we would have gone without the water system and just have
the inergen gas system. Simply bec in an emergency, water damage can be a
big problem by itself.

I am researching different types of fire suppression systems. I am
interested in hearing from anyone with experience with the new type of
water mist fire suppression system and from anyone who has recently
installed a gas suppression system.
Please contact me if you have information on the usage of either of these
types of systems in a museum or archives setting.
Thank you,
Lonna McKinley
