Hi,
As an objects conservator who has many intense close encounters with chandelier disassembly, cleaning, and rewiring issues, I would recommend finding someone who is experienced and sensitive to historic objects and not just a commercial lighting fixtures company.
For glass chandeliers see:
Journal of the American Institute for Conservation JAIC 1998, Volume 37, Number 2, Article 1 (pp. 149 to 172) THE CARE AND CONSERVATION OF GLASS CHANDELIERS JULIE A. REILLY, & MARTIN MORTIMER
For brass chandleiers see:
1999 "Lighting The Way: A Conservator's Approach to the Electrification of Antique and Reproduction Brass Chandeliers". Association for Preservation Technology Journal. Special issue - Lighting in Historic B uildings. 1999. David Harvey and Kathy Gillis.
Cheers!
Dave
