The Association of Midwest Museums (AMM) and the Michigan Museums
Association (MMA) are accepting session proposals for the 2004 Joint
AMM/MMA Conference, Reflections of Community. The conference is scheduled
for October 20-22, 2004 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Deadline for submission
is January 30, 2004. For a proposal form, visit the AMM website at
http://www.midwestmuseums.org/.
Sessions formats may include panel discussions, discussion groups,
roundtables, workshops, or other presentations that provide new insights
and cutting edge information for museum professionals. The theme,
Reflections of Community, pertains to the dynamic relationship and synergy
between museums and cultural institutions and the many unique communities
each represents. Sessions and workshops will explore the overt and subtle
ways in which museums and communities both reflect and help define each
other. Sessions may address issues by specialty, including archives,
audience evaluations, collections management, conservation, curating,
development, education, exhibitions, finance/administration, human
resources, marketing/public relations, security, and technology.
Museum and non-museum professionals are encouraged to participate in the
conference. The AMM/MMA conference will address many issues across a broad
spectrum of museum disciplines and types of institutions. For more
information, visit the AMM web site (www.midwestmuseums.org) or contact AMM
