Dear fellow listers:
I recently started as the new/first director of a historical society in
Virginia. The board has asked me to solicit advice on updating the by-laws
to reflect the hiring of an executive director. I have seen the sample
bylaws available on the AASLH website, but would be interested in hearing
what experiences others have had with this issue. The current by-laws are
very detailed, and reflect the former status of the society as a primarily
volunteer-run organization. Any advice, comments, warnings, or samples would
be greatly appreciated! You can also reach me offline at [log in to unmask]
Thanks,
Cedar Phillips
