                Please see job listing below. The Speed Art Museum is a strong, financially stable, regional art museum with diverse collections and ambitious acquisition, exhibition, and educational programs.


                The Speed Art Museum is accepting resumes for a full-time Assistant Preparator to assist with the preparation and installation of art exhibits and art handling.  

                We seek someone with: knowledge of art history, aesthetics, materials, methods of art display and presentation, general construction methods, techniques, tools, materials and carpentry; ability to use tools and equipment, to prepare frames and other display fixtures; skill in operating various hand and power tools; two years experience in constructing art fixtures, framing and preparation of exhibits; and ability to use Microsoft Office software and learn museum specific software.

                Minimum requirements:  
                -Bachelors degree in Fine Arts or equivalent training and experience
                -Ability to work on ladders, lifts and scaffolds
                -Ability to appropriately and independently lift, push, pull, carry and move objects, crates, equipment, supplies, etc of up to one hundred (100) pounds throughout the workday
                -Ability to appropriately use team techniques or equipment to lift, push, pull, carry and move objects, crates, equipment, supplies, etc in excess of one hundred (100) pounds
                 throughout the workday
                -Has care and sensitivity to concurrently work with art objects that range from delicate, light and fragile to heavy cumbersome and awkward.
